FOOTBALL: WHITES SHOW NO MERCY TO YOUNG PILGRIMS

If you fancy a little flutterĀ I suggest you pop down to the bookies and put a fiver on Lincoln United to win promotion from the Evo-Stik Division One (South) League this season.

Finalists in the Lincolnshire FA County Cup, victors over Lincoln City and Gainsborough Trinity, only one defeat in pre-season. In fact I think I may make it a tenner.

Last night at the Sun Hat Villas Sam Wilkinson’s men annihilated Boston United’s Under 21 team 5-0 with goals from McGovern (2), Mullarkey, King and Cann.

Big Sam told SportsLinc: “It was another good workout and another good performance against a young Boston side.

“We were physically too strong and powerful for them but we also played some great football.

“Three of the goals came from great passing moves which ended in really good finishes.

“It could have been a lot more on the night but to be honest Boston stuck at it and made it a really good workout.

“Our pre-season programme has finished now and we couldn’t have asked for anymore from the players.

“They have shown their levels of fitness and after two training sessions next week we will be ready for Leek Town.”

Me? I’m heading down to the bookies.

The Whites look like a safe bet for promotion!
